    A very interesting weekend

My weekend started early.  At the beginning of June I signed on to one of those Computer Dating agencies online.  Well I invited a few friends to join my network, limiting them to men who live in Oklahoma and who are between the ages of 39 and 50.

A couple of weeks after I joined this place one of them started chatting to me on line, through emails sent through the agency.  We arranged to meet up for dinner on Friday night.  He is so charming and behaves like the perfect gentleman.  We left that date with him promising to call me and we would go and see a movie.

I never expected him to contact me so quickly.  He telephoned the next day and we went to see War of the Worlds.  It was a very good film, a bit scarry in places, but nevertheless a good film.  He never tried to put his arm around me in the Cinema, which I half expected him to.  It is so refreshing to go out with someone who is not attempting to take advantage at the earliest opportunity.

We have both been through the mill in the past year.  Me with my divorce and him right at the beginning of his, so it is very good for us to take things very slowly.  The second date ended with him saying he would phone me, he hasn't called yet, but I knew that he was away over the weekend so I didn't expect him to call.

That brings us to Sunday.  We had lunch at the Church on Sunday and a concert from a local Gospel group.  They were fantastic.  The rest of Sunday was spent relaxing and doing very little.

Monday was the 4th of July, Independence Day.  I had been invited out to a party at a friends house, which I attended.  It was fun.  The people in this country need to learn a few basic Firework Safety rules, if last nights event was anything to go by.  I mean, children holding Roman Candles while they go off, granted they held them up to the sky, but those things are extremely dangerous and can cause serious injury.  Some of the more rowdy teenagers were throwing Firecrackers at their friends, the friends knew they were coming so had time to run away, but it is still a very bad example to set to the younger people who were there.  The children will think it is acceptable to do things like that.

Fireworks should be let off, one at a time by an adult.  There should be a large pot filled with sand that they are placed into and then lit.  When they have finished then you can let off the next one, the extinguised one should be put straight into a bucket filled with water.  Roman Candles should never be held, they should be lit in the same way as just described.  Firecrackers, which are illeagle in Britain, should be made illeagle here too as they are the most dangerous of all fireworks causing serious damage to life and limb.

The party was fun and I managed to share with a few of the ladies, from church, what I have been through over the past year, so in that way it did me good.  They also discovered that I like to be asked out to parties, etc and have promised to include me in the future.  It looks like life is finally starting to move along for me, all I have to wait for now is the financial settlement from my ex, which looks like it will take a little while since the house is still unsold.

I am so happy to be here and to be making new friends at last.
