    A Grand Adventure

Well, I have just had one of the best weekends that I have ever had in a long, long time.

It was what is called Homecoming at one of the Churches that my dad pastored when I was about 3 or 4 years old.  I didn't really remember the people, but I did remember the place.  The Church is called Fellowship Baptist Church in Dubach, Louisiana.

It took me about 8 or 9 hours to drive there from Oklahoma.  I took Dad's car because we decided that his car was more likely to make the trip than my old banger which has gone around the clock twice.

This is the way I went:-

    1. Sooner Road to Lexington, Oklahoma
    2. Lexington to Asher, Oklahoma State Highway 39
    3. Asher to Antlers, Oklahoma State Highway 3w (this is where the only Hiccup occured) Dad wanted me to take the bypass, past Ada but didn't tell me that the road changed to 3e at Ada
    4. Antlers to Hugo, Oklahoma Turnpike
    5. Higo to Mount Pleasant, Texas US 271
    6. Mount Pleasant to Jefferson, Texas State Highway 49
    7. Jefferson to Marshall, Texas US 59 (where I got gas)
    8. Marshall to Ruston, Louisiana Interstate 20
    9. Ruston to Dubach US 167
    10. Dubach State Highway 151 to Sylvia's House.  They were working on the road so I had to go another way.

Needless to say I came back a different way.  Interstate 20 to Dallas, Texas and then Interstate 35 to Oklahoma City.  Even that was difficult because there was gridlock on the road when I got to Gainsville, Texas so I went around it, and I am very glad I did.  I saw one of the most spectactular sights I have ever seen.  The border between Texas and Oklahoma is the Red River.  The road I went on was US 377 and this crosses the Red River near Lake Texoma.  The River is almost like a lake where it crosses.  You are only allowed to drive at 45 MPH because of the cross winds.  It is very good because you can then appreciate th beauty of the River and the surrounding countryside.  It was almost 1000 miles round trip!

One of the things I remebered about Dubach was that, that was where my brothers mowed the grass at the Cemetary and were pushing me back across the road when the gas splashed in my eyes.  Homecoming is basically a time to remember all the people who have died in the last year.  So it was a very beautiful service.  The pastor talked about who the real comforter is and that really meant a lot to me becuase of what I have gone through in the last year.  When I have been at my lowest God has been the real one to comfort me.  There was also someone there who had been through exactly the same thing that I have gone through. When we lived there Dad performed a wedding for Sylvia's Daughter Madeline and I was the Flower Girl (she showed me a picture).  About 14 years Sylvia's husband did the same thing to her that Paul has done to me.  They had been married 25 years so she really understood, more than anyone else I know can.  She told me a lot of things that made a lot of sense.  Things like Birthdays and special occasions will always hurt, but with time they will get a whole lot easier.  She also said that I had my head screwed on straight, because of the way that I am going about things with regards to the Financial Settlement etc.

It did me a whole lot of good to go to Dubach this weekend and I am really happy about how the trip went and what I accomplished while I was there.

My new puppy comes today and I am looking forward to that too.  I am so proud of myself because I have managed to pay for him all on my own without any help from anyone else.  God is so good.
